Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a psycho-biological method for resolving trauma symptoms and relieving chronic stress.  It is the life's work of Peter Levine who said, "trauma is fact of life, but it doesn't have to be a life sentence."  SE releases traumatic shocks, to transform PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental trauma.

Wherever you're "stuck" in the fight, flight, freeze, or collapse responses to trauma, SE provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.  Trauma may begin as acute stress, from a perceived life-threat or as the end product of cumulative stress.  Both types of stress can seriously impair your ability to function with resilience and ease.

SE does not require you to re-tell or re-live the traumatic event.  Instead, it helps you engage, complete, and resolve—in a slow and supported way—the body's instinctual fight, flight, freeze, and collapse responses.  Rather than locked in anxiety or rage, you experience a growing sense of peace and safety.  If you're stuck in depression, you'll gradually find your feelings of hopelessness and numbness transformed into empowerment and mastery.  Your nervous system will be reset to become more resilient to stress and increase your capacity to enjoy engaging in life.
