Depression
Clinical depression differs from normal sadness. It's more intensely painful, lasts longer, and interferes in normal day-to-day functioning. Depression is a very common human condition, and one out of five people will experience this syndrome at some point in their lives.Biological symptoms include sleep problems, changes in appetite, fatigue, decrease in sex drive, and anhedonia (inability to experience pleasure in activities which were once enjoyable).
Emotional and psychological symptoms include intense sadness and despair, lowered self-esteem and self-worth, apathy and lack of motivation, extreme negative thinking/pessimism, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling numb.
Left untreated, you suffer needlessly, as depression is one of the most treatable emotional conditions. Carolyn teaches strategies to combat the negative thinking and harsh self-criticism, to help you become free from these debilitating symptoms.
