Alcohol and Drug Abuse

You've probably quit lots of times. Staying quit is the tough part. When alcohol and drugs get out of control, they complicate relationships, family, work, health, finances, emotions — every part of your life. Staying quit means having to deal with all that wreckage while sober and straight.

Carolyn provides private counseling for people who want to assess where they fall in the continuum of substance use, abuse, and dependency. She also provides chemical dependency evaluations for people who are required to be assessed for legal purposes. In addition to assessment, you'll explore if there's a need for detox, treatment, or a 12-step support group.

Once the decision has been made to become clean and sober, it's important to learn how to manage stress and feelings without chemicals. Carolyn teaches a variety of emotional and stress-management skills, and she'll assess if there is a need for trauma or abuse recovery to prevent relapse and to create a sense of well-being in recovery.

Carolyn's experience has shown that people who have been told to get into recovery often have just as much chance for success as those who are choosing to be clean and sober. Even when there is a long history of relapse, we can explore what is sabotaging your efforts to maintain sobriety.
